The Sweetest Easter outfit & the best weekend sales!

March 30, 2018

Hi friends! Happy Friday! Just wanted to hop on here real quick and share this adorable dress. I'm currently on my way to Delaware to spend the Easter weekend with my family and hopefully enjoy some warmer weather. My parents live by the coast and it's always such a nice relaxing time over there. As much as I love NYC sometimes it's great to get away, it always makes me appreciate the city so much more.

Anyway there are so many awesome sales this weekend and this little number is included. I think it's the perfect spring dress and I'm wearing a 4P but I could've gone down a size. It was a little wide in the waist. I paired it with the most perfect light weight cardi that's perfect for cooler summer nights or even those summer days at work when the office AC is on full blast. No, just me? I'm always freezing in the office! haha. I think this is such a great dress for Easter and I'm linking a bunch of others below!

I hope you all have such a wonderful weekend! Let me know what you're up to this weekend, I'd love to hear about it.

Also here are this weekend's sales:

A little about my story

March 21, 2018

Happy Snow Day, guys -- again. Today's the 4th Noreaster we've had this winter and I don't know about you but I'm ready for the warmer weather to arrive. Also, my spring allergies have kicked in and I don't even understand how!? It's currently snowing in the city and I'm cuddled in a cozy weather with some tea in hand so I figure why not share a little bit more about me. My goal is to be transparent, I want you all to really get to know me and understand why I blog :)

I'm a real estate professional by day, and petite blogger by night. I've been working in real estate law for the past 6 years since I graduated, but have always been a lover of fashion since I was a little girl. I was a communications major in college and ended working in real estate law accidentally. I seriously considered law school and even took the LSAT twice. Kudos to y'all who made it through because that exam was torture, ugh! Since my day to day work was becoming very routine and logistical, I realized I missed being in a creative environment and so I created this blog. I didn't create the blog with the intention of making it my livelihood I just loved styling outfits, and taking pictures with my photographer friend and sharing my thoughts on petite fashion. I was working in corporate america and I learned that there was a thin line between looking work appropriate and looking like you borrowed your Mom's suits. I wanted to share how workwear could work for petite women.  I would wake up an hour earlier than usual, get ready and then I would shoot with Sandra before hopping on the bus to go into NYC to work. We would shoot all year round, regardless of how cold it was, around different parts of my hometown. People always stopped and starred but it was always such a blast.

Fast forward 3 years and I still work in real estate law and my blog is still my creative outlet. I've been blogging on and off for a few years now. When I started blogging I was so concerned about my image and the number of followers I had thatI didn't put too much effort in the quality of my posts. I didn't post frequently, nor did I engage with my followers. Big mistake! A few years later I feel comfortable just writing about whatever I want to, sharing more of myself with you guys and engaging more with you! This has turned into such a sweet community and all I can hope for is that it develops and grows. I'm still trying to figure this blogging this out and I'm determined to always be genuine and have this be an organic relationship with you all. I appreciate all the kind words and please continue to share with me your thoughts and ideas about what you would like to see here on my blog and on my instagram.

I do this out of love, 100%. I do this because it makes me happy and it brings me so much joy to talk about fashion, lifestyle, and petite problems. I can't imagine doing anything else!

Thanks so much for reading today's post.

Truthful Tuesday: Planning out my week and making time for myself

March 13, 2018

I am a proud advocate of making time for yourself. I am 100% guilty of saying yes to way too many things and spreading myself thin. I like to prioritize my relationships, friendships and day job ahead of my mental and emotion health most of the time. I noticed after a recent "breakdown" and I say that with quotations because it really was a vent session with my co-worker about how my life was falling apart and in shambles, that I was once again spreading myself too thin. Haha, I can be a bit dramatic sometimes! Whoops! I had been feeling a bit off balanced when I asked myself the following questions: 1) When was the last time you said no to a plan? 2) When was the last time you exercised? 3) When was the last time you took time for yourself? Of course the answer was, it's been a while.

While I fully recognize when my body and mind feel off, I also feel guilty of taking the time to get it back in balance. It's hard to prioritize yourself, but please realize it is absolutely necessary for your own sanity! When things get too hectic I like to plan out my weeks. This week for example I planned out when I was going to exercise because exercising regularly was something I started about 6 months ago and worked for me.  I've noticed a tremendous shift in my mood when I exercise. It's a huge stress reliever and  I get crabby when I don't exercise regularly. So this week I planned that I would workout Monday - Wednesday for at least an hour after work.

This week I also decided to plan when I was going to run errands, annoying, but again it was something that was stressing me out and it's more satisfying to plan it out and then cross it off my to-do list. So I will run errands after the gym this week, Monday-Wednesday. Additionally, I decided to say yes to one thing and that was date night. Friday is date night and this week my boyfriend and I are taking a cooking class and I'm so excited!

Which finally leaves Thursday, my day that will be fully devoted to myself. I might exercise, I might not. I will definitely watch episodes of Fixer Upper because it's my favorite and my might even indulge in a relaxing bath. It'll be a me day, an easy, no fuss kind of day. Sometimes we need that to maintain our sanity and our inner peace. Whenever it's a bath or a guilty pleasure show, we all need some down time. Some time to disconnect from the world and reconnect with ourselves. I'll definitely be taking time for myself this week to recharge my creative batteries, my mind and spirit. Hope you to do!

What's your me time ritual? Let me know in the comments below.

Thanks so much for reading today's post.

Friday Fives: Little Black Dresses

March 9, 2018

Dress: Topshop c/o Nordstrom, Earrings: Baublebar, Lips: Bite Beauty, Heels: Sam Edelman, Backpack: old, similar - on sale!

Happy Friday, everyone! I hope you've all had a great week. I'll be honest this week was a little rough for me. I started Whole30 again and I've been having the worst trouble sleeping. I'm starting to think maybe there's a correlation? Not sure! I'll keep you posted this second time around. Either way I think it's just been one of those hectic weeks and the weather has just thrown me into a funk. Spring in less than 2 weeks away but yet we're having another storm on Sunday night?! Come on warm weather, where are you?!

Anyway, after a long and crazy week I definitely needed a date night with my guy! We love exploring different restaurants in Brooklyn. He's way more willing to try a new restaurant than I am, but either way it's always a good time. This Topshop LBD is so perfect for a date night. It's dressy, yet not too over the top and I'm so in love with the ruffles! I just can't get enough ruffles these days. It's so petite friendly too. I wore a size 6 regular, which fits like a 2-4 regular and it was the perfect fit. I also think this would be such a great option for the office or a girl's night out. I think little black dresses are just so precious and are perfect for any occasion. I'm linking 5 more options below that I absolutely love!

What's your perfect date night outfit? Tell me below!

Thanks so much for reading today's post.

Mustard Sweater Dress & Why I love my #girlgang

March 7, 2018

Beret: Zara, Dress: Topshop c/o Nordstrom (available in black), Boots: oldsimilar, Backpack: old, similar

Happy Wednesday, friends! I hope you're all cuddled up in some cozy pj's on this wintery Wednesday, at least my east coast friends. Wasn't it just last week that we were thrilled about 70 degree weather?! And they say climate change is fake *eye roll* Anyway, it's been quite a week for me. I turned 27 last week and I gotta say it was the best birthday. I took the day off from work went to brunch with my boyfriend, wandered around the park drunk and then went home and napped because, yes I've officially entered my late twenties. Over the weekend I celebrated with another boozy brunch (you can see how I like my brunch ;))  with friends and ended up singing my heart out at karaoke with a group of college friends who I hadn't seen in years. It was the best impromptu reunion; it couldn't have gone better if we planned it. I was high on love and life this weekend and I felt so much joy. I hung out with the friends that helped shape me to be the person I am today and I feel tremendously grateful to still have my crew.

Growing up requires overcoming obstacles and fears and spending time with friends this weekend reminded me that having a support system is so important. My mom always told me that your college years will be the most memorable. You'll find your independence (even though you'll keep discovering it in your twenties); you'll meet your BEST friends, and you'll have the greatest memories. She was right. My support system are the friends I mainly met in college; I have two best friends from HS that I can't forget, but the friends I met at Rutgers are still my dear friends today. Having people in your circle, encouraging you, laughing with you, crying with you, celebrating with you -- it's absolutely necessary. My girl gang is comprised of lawyers, event planners, fashionistas, actors, models, activists, feminists, and make up artists and I'm blessed to call them my friends. The beautiful thing is to see how we've grown together and independently; how our dreams and plans have changed and how life together is still so much fun.

In honor of my love for my #girlgang, I wanted to share with you an event that I'll be speaking at in April. If you're in the tri-state area come hang out with me and some amazing ladies at Conscious Queens! Conscious Queens is an event for the gals in your life to celebrate community, achievements, beauty and strength. The event will feature small business owned by women of color, showcase art by community artists and will be hosted with some lovely ladies who will be sharing their stories. So come by on April 7th, tickets are $15 and this year all proceeds will go to a graduating  senior to assist with first-year college expenses! Celebrating women and donating to a worth cause? Sounds good to me! If you can't make the event but still would like to donate, click here

And to all my ladies out there, keep supporting, inspiring and loving each other!

Thanks for reading today's post.
