Saturday in Bushwick

Nordstrom: Lush Shift Dress, Chloe + Isabel: Earrings & Bracelet, Anthropologie: Jasper & Jeera Espadrilles - on sale now!, Zara: Tote, similar

Hi y'all! I hope you're having a great week so far! I wanted to share my favorite dress of the moment with you. I found this little number from Nordstrom and was such a good find. This shift dress from LA based brand Lush is a casual and feminine option for anyone's wardrobe. I fell in love with the burnt siena color and thought it was the perfect piece as we transition into fall. I'm wearing a regular XS but wished they made a petite option because I would have preferred the length to be a few inches shorter, either way it helped me beat the heat as I strolled around Bushwick with Kristin from The Petite Pear Project. We wandered around Bushwick collective - an awesome collection of murals done by local artists, and stopped by my favorite taco shop before ending the night with tons of much needed girl talk.

Overalls are not just for kids

August 17, 2016

H&M Off-the-Shoulder Top (similar & similar), Nordstrom Overalls (similar), Soludos espadrilles - on sale!, Bauble Bar necklace (similar) and earrings)

As I acclimate myself once again to city bagels and sweaty, crowded subways, I can't help but reminisce about the colorful and care-free vibes of Cancun. Another thing that I haven't been able to get out of my head is this unbearable heat that we've been having the North East. I can't remember whether last winter was so cold that it made me forget how hot NYC summers can be or if this one is the hottest one yet. Either way dressing for sticky, 90+ degree weather can be tricky and most of the time it's just too hot to look cute - I'm just speaking the truth!

Sometimes I take the comfortable route. I know if my mother knew that I was admitting this she would have a big ol' laugh. I call my mom Carmen, the comfort queen. For years my mom's style could only be described as "comfortable". She hated anything that wasn't comfortable - loose, baggy, stretchy, easy to wear, and hassle-free. The older I get, the more I understand the concept of comfort, and on this particular day I wanted to be comfortable. To me, pants and shorts are more comfortable than a dress. I have always felt this way. I'm always concerned about dresses or skirts flying up, and pants don't give me that worry. So after researching this overall trend, I decided to take the dive and add them to my cart. I purchased this adorable pair from Nordstrom and to prevent it from loooking juvenile I paired it with an easy off the shoulder top from H&M. I completed the casual look with my favorite flats from Saludos! They always have fun espadrilles.

little red number

August 11, 2016

As I get back into the swing of things back in the states, I want to thank all of you for your sweet messages while I was away! They were so thoughtful and kind. I'm back in the good ol' US of A and I've got lots to share with you all. Cancun was absolutely wonderful. Relaxing, exciting, exhilarating. Everything a vacation should be. We drank poolside, we shopped and danced until we could no longer.

Chicwish Boho Statement Cami Dress, Bauble Bar Earrings - on sale!, Steve Madden Sandal - on clearance!, J.Crew Factory Sunnies

With the 90+ degree weather, all you could wear was a bikini, skirt or dress and I opted for an adorable casual dress by Chicwish. I'll admit I'm hesitant to order from online boutiques because of my petite frame but every once in a while I strike GOLD. This casual tribal print dress from Chicwish was the ideal find and perfect for my trip to Mexico. The color and embroidered design screamed Mexico and no additional alternations were necessary :) I ordered a size small and it fit perfectly! I loved the embroidered detail and the color. It definitely brought out my tan. It was easy to dress up for dinner and dress down for the beach.

Zara Denim Dress

August 1, 2016

Laile Rose: Panama Hat, Zara: Off-the-Shoulder Dress, Steven by Steve Madden: Sabbie Espadrille Sandals - under $40 now!, Earrings: Bauble Bar

Hi babes! I just arrived to Cancun and I'm loving it. Every time I come back, Cancun always welcomes me with open arms. The beach, the weather and the vibrant culture are just all so amazing. It's a hot 90 degrees today, and we took a taxi into the city center and saw the most beautifully made handmade clothing and souvenirs.

This Zara off-the-shoulder denim dress has been a favorite of mine all summer and comes in black and striped. The off-the-shoulder sleeve has been a popular style this summer and is so comfy and cute! It kept me cool as we walked around the market and is very reminiscent of all of the homemade blouses.

Besos desde Mexico!
